The purpose of a KryoFile is to maintain traceability records for a run, so that at any point in the future you can find out exactly how a batch of samples were frozen or thawed. A KryoFile contains all of the information that was used and recorded during a run.
When a run is complete, the KryoFile is displayed automatically in the DeltaT window. You can choose a different KryoFile to view (at any time) by selecting Open KryoFile in the File menu.
You can view the sample list, annotation and runtime message in the currently displayed KryoFile by selecting the Sample List option in the View menu.
KryoFiles have a basic filename in the form kryo<nnnn>.KRS, where <nnnn> is a four-digit number that is increased by one for each new KryoFile created, e.g. kryo0003.KRS.
The deltaT software keeps a record of the last number used by a KryoFile. Even if you remove KryoFiles, the next number used is always one greater that the last number used.
Only when 9999 has been used does the numbering restart at 0000. Between the numbers 9976 and 9999, a warning message is displayed when you run a program to inform you that you should remove old KryoFiles.
There may also be a tag added to the beginning of the filename, if specified in the Add Samples dialogue during a run. For example, if the specified tag is “S32”, the name of the KryoFile will be S32.kryo<nnnn>.KRS. KryoFiles are stored in the folder specified in the profile’s configuration file. You can export data from the currently displayed KryoFile by selecting Export in the File menu.
