A profile specifies the required temperature changes in the freezer. You create a profile by specifying a series of steps, where each step is either a linear change in temperature or a constant temperature held for a specified length of time. When you run a profile (i.e. start the freezing/thawing process), the freezer attempts to match the actual chamber temperature (as specified when creating a profile step) with the required profile temperature..
In addition, each profile has an associated configuration file, which can be created using the Configuration Definitions dialogue. The configuration file specifies information such as the freezer and controller type being used, file locations and the serial port used for communication with the freezer/controller.
If you are using just one type of freezer, it is normally necessary to create just one configuration file, which can be used by all your profiles.
Each profile is stored in a separate file. This enables you to build a library of different profiles for different freezing/thawing projects.
There are several options in the File menu that are appropriate to creating, opening, editing and running profiles:
New Profile Starts a new profile.
Open Profile Opens an existing profile to view or modify.
Save Profile Saves changes to the currently open profile.
Save Profile As Saves the currently displayed profile as a new profile.
Run Profile Downloads the currently displayed profile to the controller/freezer and starts the freezing/thawing process.
Stop Profile Enables you to stop the profile that is currently running at the freezer.
